Kurseong "THE LAND OF WHITE OR CHILDS" is undoubtedly an attractive Tourists' destination". The name is said to be derived from the Lepcha word, KURSONRIP, referring to small white orchids, prolific in this area. The quaint little town nestled at the birch of thick forests is situated 51 kms. north of Siliguri and 30 kms. south of Darjeeling at an altitude of 1458 mts. above sea level. Nature plays a vital role in adding to the splendid beauty of Kurseonh. the road from Siliguri to Kurseong runs through the thick forests and picturesque tea gardens where one can experience the fragrance of fresh tea being processed on the road side factories. lains makes it memorable sight and the majestic Himalayas at the backdrop is a divine experience while staying at Kurseong.

Best Season:
The ripe period to visit Kurseong would be :-

1) March - May : The visibility at this period of season is crystal clear. Viewers get dazzled when they find first sight  of the mighty monarch  "MT. KANCHENJUNGA".

2) May - mid June : This period of time displays an enchanting and marvellous sight with the first showers kissing the green earth.

3) September - December : Though Kurseong is situated at high altitude but it always offers an enjoyable climate unlike chilly winters of Darjeeling. The best view of the mountains with lush green medows and ravines resemble Swiss Alps.

4) CHIMNEY : During the British rule in india, the British had constructed a huge chimney at the place and that' show the name got established. The chimney constructed by the Britishers still stands and marks the place. Freash vegetables are also grown here whrch is supplied and sold not only in Kurseong but also in Darjeeling.
