ACCESS

BY Air : The nearest airport is Bagdogra in North Bengal (124km). There regular flights to bagdogra from kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati. Taxis and tourist vehicles available to drive up to Gangtok, taking around four hrs. the Sikkim Helicopter Service offers necting flights from Bagdogra to Gangtok and return.
By Train : The nearest rail head is New Jalpaiguri (125 km) and Siliguri (21 km) in West Bengal.
BY Road : Gangtok is connected by road to Derjeeling, Kalimpong, Siliguri and also to all Tourist places within Sikkim. Taxis and Tourist Vehicles are available.                     

ENTRY FORMALITIES

Foreigner must obtain inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit Sikkim. The pern can be obtained from all Indian Missions Tourism Office New Delhi, Tourism Office Kolkata, Sikkim Tourism Office Siliguri and Tourism Office Gangtok. The 15 days Duration permit is issued one spot with out any delay provided photocopies of passport and visa details along with two passport photos of the applicants are made available then and there. The permissible duration of stay ------  tourists would be 15 days initially with the Stase Government authorised to extend the --------- further period of  30 days of 15 days each. The extension of permits can be obtained from Forest Registration office at Gangtok. Superintendent of Police of the North, West and South District.
For those interested in going for trakking in the interior of the ------ the Department of Toutism issues Protected Area Permit (PAP) at Gangtok which is Available for certain specified area for groups consisting of two or more foreigners subject to the condition that the trekking programme is arranged through Galaxy Tours & Treks and other registed travel agent.
